“Here’s why I don’t trust the polls, besides my decades of experience watching politics. It’s because when a weird phone number comes up on my phone, even one that doesn’t say “Spam Risk,” I give it some major side-eye. Now, I usually have to answer unknown numbers without a spam risk alert because I get lots of calls from people not already in my contact list — the booker for Geebo and the Boner’s Morning Zoo on KDUM radio in Bumtouch, Idaho, and that sort of thing. After all, that’s my business. And I always answer with a grunt because I don’t want AI taking my voice and using it to tell Irina that I’m trapped in Nigeria and she has to send $700 to get me freed from captivity. But if there’s a slight pause, or I hear a lot of voices in the background from the boiler room in Bangladesh, I hang up. Yet, occasionally, a normal voice comes on, and if they say, “I’m from Something Something Polling,” I am out of there.
I don’t know about you, but if you’re statistically like every single one of my conservative friends, you never ever ever ever talk to pollsters.”

“Let’s review some of the typical complaints from Team All-Is-Lost. The war in Iran hasn’t yet been conclusively won. Millions upon millions of illegal aliens are still in the United States. We’re paying fat slobs to sit on their butts and gobble down Doritos that our welfare dollars pay for. Republicans are weak and soft, and haven’t passed the SAVE Act. Trust-fund communists are taking over the Democrat Party. The economy under Trump 47 hasn’t yet matched the economy under Trump 45. The budget is still out of control. Bureaucrats keep interfering in our agenda. Judges keep getting in the way of progress. Democrats keep getting in the way of progress. Progressives keep getting in the way of progress.
So, we should whine and cry, right? After all, what has Trump accomplished?
A lot. I don’t need a column for that. I need a book.”

“The rap is this: the older folks rigged the game and, to the extent they have gotten out of the way (Boomers being accused of selfishly clinging to power, prestige, and position long after their sell-by date), we have left subsequent generations an economic Schiff sandwich. Some of this critique is justified — those kooky kids today are right that they got served up an unprecedented set of obstacles and challenges to success. But us crusties have a point too: if you’re regularly dropping your cash on the proverbial $20 burrito, you’re doing money management wrong.
Basically, things fiscally suck for young people, but things have always fiscally sucked for young people, and the only way through it is through it.”
