Chekhov's Gun - Narrative principle emphasizing that every element in a story be necessary, with all irrelevant elements removed. i.e. if a gun is featured in a story, there must be a reason for it, such as being fired at some later point.
Schlichter's Minigun- Narrative principle where if one introduces a badass piece of military equipment in a story, that equipment must be used to kill a lot of scumbags prior to the end of the book.
